Meet….

Frances Louella Dare!

ephemera 001

Frances had her picture take on May 30th 1904 in Rushville
Illinois, as we can read on the back of the photo.

The photo was part of a lot of ephemera that I bought on Etsy.
Frances’ picture really makes me daydream about who she was, what life was like in 1904. It is a little time capsule. I bought the lot of ephemera to use for jounaling. But Frances’s photo will be an exception.

I also bought this lot of  ephemera reproductions (below) . They are die cuts  from K& Company’s Life’s Journey line.

I hope you are having a nice week!

Our garden

I am enjoying a four day weekend! The weather is great and our garden is ready.  I am enjoying myself sitting in the sun and reading a magazine. Not everything in the garden is blooming, but I thought I’s show you some pics anyway.

I don’t remember ever telling you how much our garden changed 2 years ago. We had the back entry made and a space for my love’s car. There was an old shed, where the car is standing on the pic. The car on the pic is mine btw. My love cleaned and waxed it before I took the pic.

This the upper part of the drive way with a little shed for storing the garden equipment. I planted the catalpa after I bought the house. I wanted a tree. It needs pruning though. The garden bench usually stands on the drive way. My love was getting it ready to be disasembled  to sand it and give it a new coat of paint.

No tennants for the little house, unfortunately!

The Wisteria is blooming. It is a Wisteria Amethyst Falls.
It can take a long time for a Wisteria to bloom and I wanted instant blooming… So we bought this species. It doesn’t bloom as abundant as the normal Wisteria and the flowers are smaller. But it is really beautiful.

Clematis Nelly Moser. The flowers are very big this year, about
20cm (8 inches). Unfortunately the other clematis died (so did all the lavender stoechas btw). I guess winter was too cold.

The garden bench gets a new coat of paint. I hope the paint will have dried by next Sunday, we are getting visitors. It’s my love’s birthday.

I wish you all a nice and sunfilled weekend!

Flow

I recently bought my first issue of Flow, a Dutch magazine!

Flow is a magazine about mindfullness, taking care of yourself etc.
Their moto’s are:
* Simplify your life
* Get connected
* Live mindfully
* Spoil yourself

I would love to be able to expierence mindfullness a bit more, I worry too much.
Did you know that the letters N   O  W  H  E  R  E
can be spelled in 2 ways.  Now Here  and Nowhere.

Flow has a beautiful design which reminds me of Holly Becker’s Decor8 blog. It is partly printed on have stock paper and it always
has a little a little gift inserted.
The magazine is a bit expensive at almost € 7. I decided to buy it anyway. This issue has a insert made by PIP Studio, consisiting of wrapping paper and tags.

This last picture is of the wrapping paper and tags. The wrapping paper had pics of vintage ephemera and fleamarket finds. You can download a pdf file of the wrapping paper here.

PiP Studio is a Dutch company selling beautiful papeterie, wallpapers, linens etc. Their style is a bit Oilily meets Cath Kidston.

Take care,

This ‘n That

Hello, my friends. I hope you are all well!

It has been really nice weather and our garden is flourishing. Most of the plant’s are budding and I can’t wait to see their blossom.

I love visiting blogs. Reading about the every day life of people, take a look at the lovely pics, seeing the beautiful things they created.
I envy people who are good with their hands, crafting, building, sewing etc.
I recently discovered a blog about baking, Cake Journal. I love her Cath Kidston inspired cake.
I also love to visit my blog friend Jeany’s blog, Jeany's Brunnen.
She makes beautiful boxes. Her blog is in German and English.

kadootje claire 002

This week I arrived home to find a package on my door mat.
Claire of Dolly Dollop, sent me a English Magazine and a beautiful home made brooch. Thank you, Claire! I enjoyed the magazine sitting in the sun yesterday afternoon.

I hope you will all have a nice weekend!

Indulgence

I recently told you I love red transferware.

After my father in law died Idecided that I deserved a little pick-me-up. I found 6 cups and saucers by Regout (Old England) on a Dutch auction site.
I was a bit reluctant to have such fragile things send to my by mail, but the seller packed everthing very thoroughly.

I intend to use them. They are too nice to leave in the cabinet.
Maybe I will buy some cake plates and a sugar and cream set to match.
