Congrats Debbie! Please contact me at
letempsjadis at tele2 dot nl or use the link on the left bar.

I had a great time reading all your comments, if you have the time you should read them here. Some of them are hilarious.

Unfortunately after today if you think of the Netherlands you might think of the mad man that killed 4 people today.

Today is a national holiday celebrating the birthday of our queen, Queen’s Day.
The queen and her family visit a different part of the country each year to celebrate her birthday with ordinary people.

This year she visited the town of Apeldoorn. This morning a mad man drove his car through a barricade and a crowd of people in an attempt to hit the bus that held the royal family, killing 4 people and injuring 13. He missed the  bus and drove his car into a monument. What is this world comming to?

Dispite this I wish you all a nice weekend!

Junk!

Yep, junk. And I don’t mean nice junk, but real junk.

After his dad passed away, my love started taking things home that once belonged to him. Lovely things, but also equipment.
My love is his only son, so naturally a lot a “man” things are comming this way. We decided to clean up the attic. I made a start this week.

I always keep boxes of things that I buy, just in case I need it one day. I am deeply ashamed. I found empty boxes on the attic that once held my first computer, which I bought in 1996. Yep, I kept them for 13 years, empty….. The computer has been trown away a long time ago.

I moved to this house 5 and a half years ago. Why didn’t I get rid of them then? I really don’t know.
Now its not just the boxes. It also is the white perspex and plastic bags that protected the stuff.

And I haven’t started going through the other boxes yet.

Sigh…

Tell me I am not the only person on this planet that hoards empty boxes…..

Please……;-)

Blog anniversary give-away

On April 20th, my blog had it’s first anniversary. A short while before that I had my 10.000th visitor. Very nice for a little blog like mine.

I realise that most of those 10.000 visits are the same people over and over. You, my loyal blog friends, keep visiting me even though I do not blog as frequently as I would like to.

I appreciate that very much.

give away

My give away consists of 2 things. A small note book with lovely drawings of hellebores (christmas rose) and 6 coasters with drawings of houses.
They don’t have much in common, except for the fact that the drawings on them are typically Dutch. The drawings on the note book were made by Marjolein Bastin, a personal favourite. The drawings on the coasters are houses that are typical for Amsterdam, canal side houses. Both items are new, I just unpacked them to be able to take a photo.

All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what you think of when you think of the Netherlands. I am willing to send this anyware, so don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

The give away will end on our national holiday, Queen’s Day. Which is April 30th, at noon local time. My sister will visit me that day and she will draw the lucky winner.

Take care,

P.S. Thea, thank you for setting me straight on the kind of flowers shown on the note book.
I wrote that they were peonies. Fortunately Thea was the first to visit.

Gone to the beach II

beach

I promissed you some pics of our trip to the sea. We live in the south of the Netherlands, so the sea is something exotic to us. I love water, lakes, rivers, ponds,  the sea. It makes feel relaxed.

We had a bed & breakfast in the town of Bergen. A very nice town 3km from the sea. There weren’t much toerist there, so we almost had the beach to ourselves. The weather was nice, but not warm. No sunbathing for us.

There are links at some photo’s which lead you to English Wikipedia for information on the subject.

An oldfashioned Girl

I sent Ann Marie (of An oldfashioned Girl) a little something for her birthday. She sent something in return to me, which really was not necessary.
She sent me a card book with 6 cute Easter cards of a beautiful sturdy quality. I love the vintage images, especially the one on te front of the book!

Thank you, Ann Marie.

Thank you!

First of all I would like to thank you all for your kind words! It really helps to know that people are thinking of you.

In particular I would like to thank Jeany and Ann Mary for their e-mails filled with kind and wise words. Ann Marie, I would also like to thank you for your prayers. They have  really helped me through these hard times!

We are doing both fine (as good as can be expected). We both had to get back to work after Easter. Returning to our regular ordinary life is a good thing.
