This ‘n that

The weather has been lovely here in the past few days. I was able to sit outside in the sun this afternoon for the first time this year. What a lovely beginning of spring!

Yesterday we had some exterior decoration done on the house. The less fun (but very necessary) kind! You spend a lot of money and when it’s done, there is nothing to show for it.
We had a leak in the roof near the chimney. Since the chimney hasn’t been used for a long time we decided to have it removed.

Now you see me, now you don’t.

Yesterday evening I backed an apple pie. This is the second time I gave it a try and it is really yummy! I am really proud of it, because my cooking and backing skills are almost non-existing.

One more week and we will have a short break and visit the coast for a couple of days. I hope I will be able to show you some pics when we return. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will have nice weather.

Have a nice week!

I’m still alive…

And I am sure you are curious what I’ve been up to.

Well, not much ;=) I am very tired lately and most of my spare time I spend with my love on the couch watching tv or just reading your blogs. I guess, like all of you I am in need of Spring.

This week I bought an old (1920’s) souvenir book of Lugano through Marktplaats a Dutch auction site. I think I overpaid but since it was sold by a charity shop named Emmaus, I don’t feel guilty about it. I really wanted it.

A little while ago I wrote about the start of a new collection of red transferware. Since I don’t want to spend much money on it, it has taken me a while to find my first piece. A cup and saucer by Myott, from a service named The Hunter.

Beneath you find a pic of a little corner of my kitchen.
Those with sharp eyes see the name of my blog on the little tray on the left. I bought the tray for a few Euro’s, painted it white with wallpaint and transfered the name of my blog on to the tray with a feltpen.   Although it is far from perfect it lookes kind of cute, doesn’t it?

The last thing I wanted to tell you about is my namesake’s handmade dressform. Marianne from Songbird is nesting wanted a dressform, but didn’t want to spend a small fortune on one, so she made her own. Her 18 year old niece modelled. It think is is wonderful. Why don’t you look for yourself on Marianne's blog.

Take care,
