{This ‘n that}

I wrote this post last weekend! I meant to have Blogger post it on Wednesday, but I forgot to upload it. That is the downside of Live Writer. You type a post and think your ready LOL.

But it gives my a chance to add some things. OK here we go…

Remember the plates I bought a little while ago.

I forgot to tell H. about them and sort unloaded them
on the desk in our hobby anex dressing room upstairs.
The morning after I bought them he came downstairs very
excited to ask me where I bought those plates. You see,
they ate a lot of California soup at his home and those plates
were a childhood memory for him. He is not the thrift store type, but he really was happy with this find. And that made me happy!

Notes from a hospital bed, is one of my favorite blogs at the moment. An, (to me) unknown, journalist keeps a daily journal about the food suplied to him in a NHS (National Health Service) hospital in Great Brittain. I know it sounds boring, but it is really very funny. Well not for the man.  He has to stay in in traction (ed. untill a couple of days ago) in the hospital …. and eat the food.
I read almost all the posts he wrote since he started blogging late August. It seems that the hospital’s view of a balanced meal is peas peas, peas, peas peas and peas. Oh yes and custard. Poor man! Thanks to Mary for mentioning the blog.

Do you like my new banner? I made it with the help of
this tutorial. Easy peasy! The font is Teletype.

I’ve read so much about Pottery Barn on the internet. I wanted to take a look at their site, but I can’t. I keep getting the following message; “Sorry, due to website restrictions we are unable to display the requested page” Does anybody know why? Is it because I don’t live in the US? I would like to send them an e-mail about it but I don’t have the e-mail address  because I don’t have access. Could somebody look it up for me. I tried info@potterybarn.com but never got a response. Thank you for helping me out!

Take care and have a nice weekend!

{Crab Cacti}

We are the proad owners of 9 blooming
crab cacti. Two of them are white and 7 are red.
I can’t decide which color I like best.

We put them outside in spring and take them in again
in autumn when they start budding. The flowers are beautiful.

Have a nice weekend!

{Walk}

This morning H. and I took a walk through our home town. The weather was lovely. If it weren’t for the fallen leaves and the beautifully colored trees, you could think it was spring.

I took my camera. You can click on the pics to enlarge them.

I would like to wish my American readers a Happy Halloween!

{Soup}

I hope you all had a nice week! I did. I am actually enjoying my new job and that hasn’t happened in a long time. I am glad I made the switch.

Today, after work, I went to a thrift shop. It is huge and they have a lot of really nice stuff. I go there a lot, but try not to buy too much. I am not very succesfull at my attempt most of the times.

I’ve been passing a stack of soup plates during my last few visits that really appealed to me. Today I decided to go back and buy a couple of them, I ended up buying the whole stack. Yep, all nine of them. Oh my, what has to become of me LOL  My only excuse is that they were cheap.

Do you know California soup? In the sixties you could collect
services by saving  some kind of marking on the package.
I think sombody collected these plates.

So these plates are about 40-45 years old. Not antique, maybe not even vintage, but nice…

Have a nice weekend!
